A few months ago I did one of these "5 Things I've noticed about..." articles on the people in the 9/11 Truth Movement, and it had me thinking to myself "what about the conspiracy theories that the people in the 9/11 Truth Movements promote?"
So what about those conspiracy theories, and what are some of the biggest things about them that just stand out? Well, I've noticed a lot of things about them, and I've narrowed them down to five different things.
So here are five things I've noticed about 9/11 conspiracy theories:
5. There are a lot of them.
Probably one of the biggest problems with the 9/11 conspiracy theories is that there are more than one of them, instead of just one that the people who believe in and focus on.
For some people these can be confusing not only because they are all very different, but they are mostly not even connected to one another.
Not only can they be confusing, but they are also progressively more bizarre as well.
There is the let it happen theory, the controlled demolition theory, the drone plane theory, the nuke theory, and even the no plane/space lasers (which is so bizarre a person in the 9/11 Truth Movement debunked it).
I guess you say that the 9/11 conspiracy theories are a lot like the JFK assassination conspiracy theories in that not only are there more than one theory to what happened, but also because...
4. There is apparently more than one perpetrator.
Besides there just being more than one 9/11 conspiracy theory, according to these conspiracy theories, there is no solid conclusion on who the "real" perpetrator is.
Some people claim that it was Al-Qaida, it's just that those in the government allowed them to attack. Some people say that it was a collaboration between the government and Al-Qaida. Some people believe it was just the government, or Israel, or the Illuminati, or someone else entirely.
It just seems like none of these conspiracy theorists who claim that 9/11 was an inside job can agree upon who did it, and how they did it. Of course that isn't very surprising to me, because...
3. The biggest promoters of the 9/11 conspiracy theories are kooks.
Now I'm saying that all people who believe in the 9/11 conspiracy theories are kooks, but the biggest promoters of these theories are.
There's Alex Jones, whom constantly promotes conspiracy theories on his radio program, thinks everything bad that happens is a false flag attack, and just starts yelling and making incoherent rants.
There's Mike Adams, a promoter of pseudoscience and medical quackery (especially dangerous types of medical quackery), as well as other conspiracy theories.
Finally, there's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the former president of Iran, whom in addition to promoting 9/11 conspiracy theories, is also a holocaust denier, and is antisemitic.
They are of course not the only one's who promote the 9/11 conspiracy theories, but they are some of the biggest ones, and many of the other promoters of the 9/11 conspiracy theories are just as nutty (or possibly fraudulent) as these guys.
2. They contain a lot of bigotry.
Many conspiracy theories contain forms of bigotry within them, and 9/11 conspiracy theories are no different.
A lot of the 9/11 conspiracy theories are antisemitic, either indirectly by blaming several prominent Jews of being involved in the attacks, or blatantly antisemitic by blaming Israel, and that all the Jewish people who worked at the World Trade Center were in on it.
Besides the antisemitism within these conspiracy theories, these conspiracy theories are also racist as well, because many conspiracy theorists try to justify their belief that someone other than some people from the middle east had to have done this because people from the middle east (and Arab people in general) are not mentally capable of planning out and doing such a thing, or if they did, then they would have had to have had help from either white people or Jews, or have been allowed to do this.
1. They've all been debunked.
Every single 9/11 conspiracy theory has been debunked. From the "let it happen" theories, to the controlled demolition theory, to the really crazy no plane theories, not a single one has ever been proven to be true, or have been shown to hold up to any sort of evidence, or even hold up to logical arguments.
In fact they have all been debunked for years now, and some skeptics no longer even debate and debunk the people who make these claims, either because they have determined that those people are either to stupid to figure out that none of these conspiracy theories are true, or that they are to self deluded to be able to see that what they believe to be true is not, or that they are mentally ill, or they are a liar with an ulterior motive.
The fact is that all of the evidence surrounding the 9/11 attacks point in only one direction: Al-Qaida and the 19 members of that terrorist group who hijacked those planes and flew them into the sides of those buildings, and no one else.

A review of "Debunking 9/11 conspiracy theorists" by Myles Power
On October 31, 2012 blogger and vlogger Myles Power began uploading to his Youtube page the first of a seven part series called "Debunking 9/11 conspiracy theorists".
The series (as you can tell by the name in itself) primarily focused on several of claims that members of the 9/11 Truth movement made when he went down to the World Trade Center site on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, and interviewed some of the movement's members that were there protesting near by.
The main claims that were addressed were the ones concerning the beliefs that the Twin Towers and WTC 7 were brought down in a controlled demolition, that thermite was used to bring the towers down, and that a missile hit the Pentagon (along with a few other minor related claims).
Myles does an excellent job at debunking these claims using a combination of science, logic, and photographic and video evidence, while at the same time addressing and debunking these claims in a way that is not only easy to understand, but is also entertaining. I even learned couple of things myself that I didn't even know, such as that the plane that hit the Pentagon struck several lamp posts before it actually hit, and what exactly caused the Twin Towers to finally collapse (besides just the constant heat from the intense, jet fuel fueled fires that were causing the steel beams strength to weaken, the constant pressure from the rest of building up above pressing down on the weakened steel beams, and of course the damage caused by a Boeing 767 traveling 400 mph into this sides of the buildings).
While I did very much enjoy the series, I do have a couple of (minor) complaints.
First is that there were a few more claims that, in my opinion, should have been addressed.
While I know that Myles was primarily focused on the claims from the 9/11 Truthers that he had met made to him, I believe he should have addressed a few other claims that are also made by other 9/11 Truthers, such as the drone theory, the "let it happen" theory, the "Israel did it" theory, the "no plane" theory, and the related "space laser" theory (which he did briefly mentions, but would not bother address simply because it was so insane, which I don't blame him for).
If he does decide to make some follow up videos concerning some of the issues that were not addressed, I do hope that he will address and debunk these claims.
My other complaint actually concerns the sixth part of the series, which talks about the psychology behind 9/11 Truthers (and conspiracy theorists in general).
While I did find that part to be very interesting and informative in showing how conspiracy theorists think, in my opinion I don't feel that the part was actually necessary. Why I do know that part was included to help better show the thought processes of a 9/11 Truther, I feel that part should have been completely separate from the series, rather than apart of it.
Besides these two minor issues, I felt overall that this series was excellent, and I highly recommend viewing it, and not just for skeptics and debunkers, but also for people in the 9/11 Truth Movement, and people who just have some unanswered questions about that horrible day.

10 Lies Truthers Tell
The 9/11 conspiracy theories are probably some of the most thoroughly debunked conspiracy theories out there, with thousands of people devoting hundreds of hours to debunk these theories. Some of these theories have been debunked for so long, and so early on, and have such clear evidence (including photographic evidence) that they can only be best described as lies.
Here is what could be considered 10 of the biggest lies people in the 9/11 Truth movement (or Truthers, as they are commonly called) tell:
(Author's note: these are just the 10 I remembered off of my head. There are actually a lot more than this.)
10. There were pools and rivers of molten steel at the WTC site.
No there wasn't. There are satellite pictures of hot spots where the towers stood, and pictures of steel beams that were red hot, but never any pictures of molten steel, nor has anyone who was actually at the site after the towers fell have ever claimed to have seen pools and rivers of molten steel.
The satellite pictures that show these hot spots show that those areas were actually places where underground fires were, and not molten steel because the temperature of the heat being given off from those areas was not hot enough to cause steel to melt.
9. No plane was witnessed hitting the Pentagon.
Actually there are multiple witnesses to the plane hitting the Pentagon. There is also video taken from a security camera that, while it is very difficult to tell for many people, does show a plane hitting the Pentagon.
8. No pieces of American Airlines Flight 77 was ever found at the Penatgon.
Actually much of the plane was recovered, including remains of the passengers on board (including the five hijackers), and the flight recorder (although damaged to the point where nothing usable could be recovered on it). In fact there are actually photos of pieces of the planes that were being recovered from the crash site and removed from the site for further investigation.
7. The towers fell at free fall speeds.
No they didn't. The towers fell at speeds slower then free fall. There are videos that show the towers falling at free fall speeds, but these videos have had their speed altered to make it look like they are falling at free fall speeds.
6. The towers imploded.
No they didn't. If you were to watch any videos of the towers collapsing then you would see that the towers collapsed on top of themselves rather then implode into themselves, the results of which spewed out a lot of debris over the site, heavily damaging many of the other buildings there.
5. The towers were designed the withstand the impact of a Boeing 707 and should have survived the impacts.
It's true that the towers were designed to survive the impact from a Boeing 707, but only if it was going at landing speeds (180 mph) and was low on fuel. The Boeing 767's that stuck the towers are not only larger then the Boeing 707, they stuck at a much higher speed, thus there was more energy transferred into the impact then what the buildings had been designed to withstand, nor did the engineers who had helped design the towers believe that the towers would be burning so intensely from so much jet fuel for the amount of time that they were.
4. Explosives were heard being used in the WTC towers.
While explosions were heard inside the the towers, they are attributed to things other then explosives, such as transformers and cleaning chemicals. Besides that, no one should be alive if they actually were inside the buildings and heard explosives going off. Those people would have been killed when the towers collapsed.
3. Former CIA operatives have confessed to being part of, or having knowledge of a cover-up.
As far as I am aware only one person, a woman by the name of Susan Lindauer, has claimed to have worked for the CIA (as well as the DIA) and to have knowledge of a cover-up. There are two big problems with this: First, there is no proof she ever worked for either the CIA or the DIA, and second, she is mentally ill. In fact she was declared unfit for trial twice after she was accused in 2003 of acting as a unregistered lobbyist for the Iraqi Intelligence Agency, and engaging in prohibited financial transactions with the government of Iraq under the control of Saddam Hussein.
The charges against Lindauer were dropped against her in early 2009 only because the government decided that there was no longer any point to try to take her to trial anymore.
2. WTC 7 was ordered to be demolished.
WTC 7 was not ordered to be demolished.
The reason why so many people in the 9/11 Truth movement believe that it was is because of an order was given to "pull it" a few minutes before the tower collapsed.
While many in the 9/11 Truth Movement claim that "pull it" is a demolition term to bring down a building, it is not. "Pull it" is an evacuation order. In other words all the fire fighters were ordered to get out of the building because it was determined that the building was going to collapse in a matter of minutes (which it did).
1. Red/gray chips and small iron spheres at the WTC site are indications that explosives were used.
Actually the red/gray chips that have been found at the site have been test and proven to be epoxy resins, paint chips, and rust chips.
The small iron spheres are actually the result of heat rust particles due to the heat from the intense heat brought on by the fires of the burning jet. Rust particles also have a lower melting point than steel, which the temperatures from the jet fueled filled fires were able to generate.

Embarrassing Conspiracy Theories: Radical Conspiracy Theorist = Dis-information Agent
One of the most common claims by conspiracy theorists is that there are dis-information agents all over the place. Normally these accusations of being a dis-information agent are made against skeptics and debunkers, since skeptics and debunkers are the people who show just how faulty conspiracy theories really are. But sometimes, claims of being a dis-information agent are made by conspiracy theorists, against other conspiracy theorists.
In fact, it's actually quite common for some conspiracy theorists to accuse other conspiracy theorists of being dis-information agents, especially if those who are being accused promote conspiracy theories that are either so radical, or so strange, that other conspiracy theorists actually debunk them. Sometime it doesn't even have to be really weird, just very different from what another conspiracy theorist believes.
Because of this, and other actions, such as spamming the comments section on conspiracy theorists web sites, blogs, message boards, and skeptics and debunker web sites and blogs, with their extremely strange conspiracy theories, many "mainstream" conspiracy theorists have "concluded" that these people who promote these extremely strange conspiracy theories must be dis-information agents because... who else would promote such insane conspiracy theories.
There is a prime example of someone who believes in very strange conspiracy theories, and is often times accused of being a dis-information agent, and that example is a woman by the name of Judy Wood. She in fact happens to be a 9/11 conspiracy theorist, who promotes one of the strangest of the 9/11 conspiracy theories: that no planes hit the World Trade Center towers, what we saw on television were holograms, and that super lasers from satellites in space destroyed the towers. Because of these theories that she promotes, many other 9/11 conspiracy theorists believe that she, and others who promote her theories, are believed to be dis-information agents, instead of just people who are probably crazy and tend believe in, or at least more willing believe in, such weird conspiracy theories, as many skeptics and debunkers contend.
It should also be noted that Judy Wood has also accused other 9/11 conspiracy theorists of being dis-information agents as well, because of their willingness to claim that she is a dis-information agent, and because of their un-willingness to promote her conspiracy theories, and also because she is so convinced of her own conspiracy theories about the 9/11 attacks, that in her mind all other conspiracy theories about the attack "must" be dis-information...
Sound familiar.

Embarrassing Conspiracy Theories: No Planes hit the World Trade Center
There are probably more then a dozen or so conspiracy theories involving the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States, and I admit, I think every one of those theories are ridiculous and false. But, there is one conspiracy theory that is so ridiculous that most 9/11 conspiracy theorists don't talk about.
This is the theory that no planes hit the World Trade Center towers.
It is considered the craziest of all the 9/11 conspiracy theories, and talk about it has been banned from many conspiracy theorist websites. Some people who advocate these theories are even accused of being dis-information agent, and have even been threaten with violence.
There are actually two different versions this theory.
The first one is that what we all saw on TV were not planes, but computer generated images, and that every video that showed the planes hitting the towers are fakes.
Besides the fact that this claim sounds insane, it would also have to mean that every eye witness to the attack, including people who were standing in the street, and people who were actually in the buildings themselves and watched the planes hit, are lying...
In other words, it might be technologically possible, but humanly speaking, it's impossible. There is simply no way you could get the tens of thousands of people to lie about this.
The other type of no plane theory is one that claims that a hologram is what was seen hitting the towers, not a plane.
This theory would have to ignore the statements given by many of the survivors who were in the towers when the planes hit, that they actually saw the planes go into the sides of the building. This is not even mentioning the fact that we didn't have the technology to do such a thing back then, because we don't have the technology to do it now.
Advocates of both of these theories tend to base their claims on the belief that no plane wreckage was recovered, and that no bodies of the passengers that were on the planes were found either. Both of these claims are false. There was in fact plane wreckage recovered, and there were remains of the passengers found at the sites as well.
Advocates of these theories also claim that what actually hit the towers was a missile, although there are some that claim that lasers brought the towers down, which again, is not technologically possible now, much less ten years.
A missile would not have caused the type of damage caused to the towers. A missile would have created a large, round hole, and not the large, plane shaped hole that, lets say, a large plane flying into the side of a building would cause if you flew a large plane into the side of a building, which is the shape of the holes that were made when those two planes flew straight into those two buildings. Also, missiles travel at super sonic speeds, and those two planes were traveling well under super sonic speeds.
Sounds crazy, right?

This is not even mentioning the fact that we didn't have the technology to do such a thing back then, because we don't have the technology to do it now.
Advocates of both of these theories tend to base their claims on the belief that no plane wreckage was recovered, and that no bodies of the passengers that were on the planes were found either. Both of these claims are false. There was in fact plane wreckage recovered, and there were remains of the passengers found at the sites as well.
Advocates of these theories also claim that what actually hit the towers was a missile, although there are some that claim that lasers brought the towers down, which again, is not technologically possible now, much less ten years.
A missile would not have caused the type of damage caused to the towers. A missile would have created a large, round hole, and not the large, plane shaped hole that, lets say, a large plane flying into the side of a building would cause if you flew a large plane into the side of a building, which is the shape of the holes that were made when those two planes flew straight into those two buildings. Also, missiles travel at super sonic speeds, and those two planes were traveling well under super sonic speeds.
Sounds crazy, right?
Well, it is. In fact many leading advocates of this theory are actually believed to be mentally ill.
This conspiracy theory really is embarrassing to conspiracy theorists, because it really does make them look (more) crazy.
